Ask HN: How would you build a budget CPU-focused cluster (or desktop) in 2024?
As I've lately dabbled more and more in CPU (and memory) bound stuff I was wondering what would be the best approach to create a home cluster/lab for this kind of stuff considering what is now available on the market? Assuming the tasks are easily distributable so the penalty of using multiple computers performance-wise should be rather minimal.
Of course the price should matter too - so stuff like Threadripper is a bit too pricey.
Currently I have a Ryzen 7950X box and while it is great there are limits of how much I can do with it. What would you suggest?
