Show HN: Yass – Yet Another Spec Syntax Enters Beta

Wed, 09/23/2026 - 2:55am

This has been a side project for a while but it’s finally ready for public Beta.

Tl;dr: Yass leverages RFC2119 keywords in a minimal Yaml format, relying on trained in behaviors for those keywords to provide strong model behaviors.

The yass CLI itself is all that you need - simply tell an Agent to look at the shakefu/yass repo README and they get all the information needed to proceed.

This was validated with hundreds of experiments and trials against different models and platforms. The most significant of which was a single Yass spec tree reproduced byte-exact output Yass CLI implementations across 7 different languages (TypeScript, Python, Go, C, C++, Erlang and Elixir) in sandboxed Claude Code harnesses using Opus 4.6, rather than expensive frontiers.

Give it a try, open GH issues if you find things that aren’t working (or make your agent open them), or if you have feature requests.

Enjoy!

Jevify skill – Gets your existing agents running on Jev

Wed, 09/23/2026 - 2:46am

Tried Jev when it came out last week and it's crazy fast. Heaps of the LLM calls in my agents were already structured data anyway, so I thought I'd try moving them over.

It worked, so I wrapped it in a skill that does it end-to-end. Tested on popular repo and it all worked, see the demo in GitHub repo.

You can just run /jevify in your repo. It marks which ones could move to Jev, and converts to use Jev (TypeSafe, OpenRouter, or Vercel).

The scan works without a Jev key if you just want to see what it finds.

Not affiliated with TypeSafe. Would love to hear how it goes!

Give it a try! Github: https://github.com/Kevin-Zhouu/jevify/

Show HN: use-citations – Claude Code skill for citation backed answers

Wed, 09/23/2026 - 2:37am

This is a Claude Code skill for research questions in law, tax, medicine and similar fields, or for anyone wanting to ask knowledge-based or research questions while in a Claude Code shell really. It gets claude to save the source documents, answers from them, and builds an artifact/report where each sourced phrase opens in a slide out drawer with the relevant passage highlighted in the full source doc (quick video demo of the artifact is in the linked repo).

Tools like Harvey, Legora, and OpenEvidence provide a lot more value than just this, so it isn’t a replacement. I imagine, though, that there are some people in those fields around the world who might have a Claude/GPT subscription and not one of the domain specific AI tools. I know CLI might not be natural to all in the those industries, but I’ve found Claude Code works better for me as a harness for this kind of research than Chat, and this adds the citation and grounding pieces, to some degree, that those tools provide.

It is MIT licensed. Suggestions and pull requests are welcome. If you’re at a firm with Claude/GPT subscriptions and want help getting people set up with this, feel free to ask.

Ask HN: Engineers on highly polished products, how are you using agentic coding?

Wed, 09/23/2026 - 2:25am

Hi HN,

Agentic coding is amazing at getting you 90% of the way to "finished", but getting products to feel really polished seems to take monumental effort if you're just "vibing".

Yet engineers working on world-class products have ample access to plenty of frontier LLM tokens. Products like Linear, Instagram, Google Docs, Figma, etc. This class of products were super polished before LLMs took over, and they've stayed polished in the post-LLM era.

My question: What's different about how those products are built/maintained that keeps them feeling polished?

Compare with so many vibe-coded apps we've all seen, which almost universally feel like they're missing that polish that makes them feel professional.

For example:

- Are these organizations simply moving slower? (As they're already incumbent in the space.)

- Is visual design, copy editing, etc. still being done by (gasp) humans?

Would love to hear any first- or second-hand accounts!
