Hi HN. Today Codex (macOS) prompted to upgrade, and it failed - the app is gone, but was not replaced. The dock icon shows a question mark.

To fix this I tried to download the Codex app from OpenAI. https://developers.openai.com/codex/app redirects to ChatGPT. The Codex page itself (https://openai.com/codex/) talks about 'now in ChatGPT' and prompts to download.

Sure enough, downloading what appears to be Codex downlaods ChatGPT -- and so opening 'Codex' loads all my personal chats, non-work conversations, etc.

I cannot emphasise enough how much this is a disaster. I cannot mix my personal and work use - not least just for keeping them separate (I do not want to see personal chats while working.)

The OpenAI claim seems to be that you can run it in Codex mode? Yet there is zero UI for this. ChatGPT claims it's got the latest installed. Currently my entire Codex workflow is gone.

Some form of Codex is still available via GitHub releases, latest here: https://github.com/openai/codex/releases/tag/rust-v0.144.3 but I cannot find the app itself. There is the CLI, the app server... 163 different downloads, but no macOS Codex app.

Opensource Project I'm working on I wanted more control of my coding agents (Codex, Claude Code, Open Code) especially if I am outside, so I made it accessible via an ADE Client (Agentic Development Environment) and the Cloud. On the web you can message and view the work on your AI Agents.

Since I had some experience with Twilio, I also added the ability for users to add their own Twilio Account and setup basically a mini "Cloud PBX" (its not infinitely scalable, its designed for small throughput) - so you can manage cellular calls on your business as well as route your own number to a dedicated Voice Agent on the web that knows about your account, connected devices, and control your devices remotely.

The ADE itself is pretty advanced: To do list native, Session History per Workspace, PCB Design via Opensource TSCircuit, AI Video Editor (very basic so far) and eventually the idea is that it will get good enough to automate content generation and simpler engineering tasks

Still in active development.
