Show HN: I built a tool that turns GitHub commits into posts

Hacker News - Tue, 07/14/2026 - 9:01am

Hi HN,

I'm the solo developer behind Postezi.

The idea came from a problem I kept running into: I'd ship features almost every day, but when it came time to write about them on LinkedIn or X, I'd stare at a blank editor for 20 minutes and eventually give up.

I realized Git commits already contain most of the context needed to describe what changed. The missing piece is collecting that context, understanding it, and turning it into something readable.

So I built Postezi.

I hope this tool will be as helpful to you as it is for me. Would love your feedback pls

Ask HN: Using X vs. LinkedIn?

Hacker News - Tue, 07/14/2026 - 8:58am

In X, I see it's easy to go viral and stuff and there seems to be engagement if you are consistent (and can pay for the plan and do hot takes)

while in linkedin, I saw many posts on how linkedin people often don't engage but then reach out when they have a problem

Anyone here who tried both, do let me know what's working for you folks

Show HN: Chauffeur – One Click restore of your aplication Context

Hacker News - Tue, 07/14/2026 - 8:57am

Hi Hacker News, I am the developer of the application Chauffeur.

Every time I had to open all my apps by hand — VS Code on the right folders, the Chrome tabs, some files edited in Notepad++, open PDF's. I wanted an app that restores my whole context via click on one button.

Chauffeur does this: it saves the state of multiple apps and restores them on demand. Everything stays on the local computer. Open files/projetcs/tabs only talks to 127.0.0.1 or localhost.

Platforms: Windows, MacOS and Linux. Commercial: Free + Pro. No trial, no time limit. Free: free forever, no account, no credit card. Limit: 1 saved workspace (overwritable), restoring is free Pro (paid): unlimited named workspaces + automatic snapshots + export/import. The price is 5.99€/month or 49€/year.

I would like feedback on the cross application context model and the local only architecture. I would be happy to answer anything.

Show HN: IChingPortal – Keyword search and news aggregator using the I Ching

Hacker News - Tue, 07/14/2026 - 8:13am

The IChingPortal is a phrase and keyword search platform that queries popular API’s and 1000’s of newsfeeds and filters them through the I Ching frame work. I call Ancient Wisdom through Modern Data. You can do a coin toss to get an I Ching reading or search individual hexagrams. This has been a work in progress for several years. I built the first prototype before LLM’s were even a thing. I came up with the idea after reading The Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra but it took some time to evolve where it is now. Originally built it in React 16 using Material UI on the front end. Earlier this year I moved it over to Next.js with Shad/Tailwind on the front end. I recently added a news aggregator as well. View the the whole platform here https://ichingportal.com Get your daily headlines from The I Ching Insight here https://ichingportal.com/ichinginsight Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Tell HN: Up/downvotes for comments on HN are silently ignored when using Tor

Hacker News - Tue, 07/14/2026 - 8:11am

I noticed that whenever I upvote or downvote a comment while connected through Tor, my vote is silently ignored. I still get the "unvote/undown" button, but the user karma in their profile remains unchanged. I can repeat the same while connected through the clearnet, and everything works as expected: The karma of the affected user changes accordingly. The upvotes for the stories work fine though.

Is this a new defense from bots? Why does it affect established user accounts like mine? Have anybody else also noticed this?
