Show HN: Native macOS / iOS note app – Offline first – Search note by AI

Hacker News - Tue, 04/29/2025 - 4:23pm

Finding notes fast is still hard. You can organize with tags, PARA, or backlinks, but searching always feels slow and frustrating.

That’s why I built ConniePad - native app on macOS & iOS. It works offline and lets you capture notes quickly anywhere. It has a comprehensive editor and local speech-to-text on iOS, so you can jot down ideas even without internet.

But capturing notes is only half the story. What about finding what you need?

ConniePad uses AI search. You can type queries like you would in Google or ChatGPT. It understands similar words, wrong typos, and abbreviations, so you get good results fast.

Semantic search is off by default because it uses OpenAI service. You can turn it on in Settings or the Right Sidebar.

I’m always working to make ConniePad better. If you have feedback, I’d like to hear it.

Try it yourself at conniepad.com. No login or credit card needed. Just download and start.

Show HN: Built AI-led coding, system design, and behavioral interviews

Hacker News - Tue, 04/29/2025 - 4:17pm

Couple friends and I built this cause we hated the direction that technical recruiting is going in. There's so much 'cheating' and inconsistent interviewing where great talent gets lost because companies care so much about correct solutions and time crunch interviews. But that's because they don't have the resources to do more than that for their candidates, or they'd just be spending all their time interviewing and doing on-sites.

So we wanted to come up with a better solution than take-home tests and solely T1 college or FAANG hiring, where everyone gets a fair chance to show what they bring to the table (comprehensively).

So we built 'Candora' - AI led coding, system design, and behavioral interviews to evaluate technical depth, collaboration, and problem solving, not just final answers. We use real time conversational AI and evaluate the entire audio playback, transcript, all their code/whiteboard iterations, and more, to assess how they did and build their profile.

Teams end up saving a huge amount of engineering time and candidates get a way more involved/consistent chance to put their best foot forward.

On the side we built a mock interviewing platform geared towards helping people prep for rounds. You can get feedback and replay sessions, without needing to schedule or pay someone.

If you want to try an interview, you can start one here (its free): https://candora.ai/try?from=hn

Would love feedback from the HN community. Thanks

Show HN: DotMint – Design 30x30 Pixel Art, Mint as NFT or Launch as Token

Hacker News - Tue, 04/29/2025 - 4:13pm

I built DotMint, a pixel art creator where users can draw 30x30 images on a grid canvas and either mint them as NFTs on Solana or launch them as tokens on pump.fun. You can also use AI (via Stable Diffusion) to generate pixel art from text prompts.

Built with Vue 3 + TypeScript + Solana Web3 + Firebase, the platform has basic drawing tools (pencil, fill, erase, color picker, undo/redo), wallet connection (Phantom, Solflare), and a credit system to access AI generation. Minting and pump.fun integration are WIP but coming soon.

I’d love feedback on the UI/UX, Web3 flow, or anything that could make this more fun and useful for creators and devs alike.

Ask HN: Good AI tool for UI mockups without code?

Hacker News - Tue, 04/29/2025 - 4:06pm

What tool have you found to be useful to generate screens/components for an app? Basically a UX design tool rather than a dev tool.

The problem with most code generation tools is that they're limited by their ability to provide working code. ie., there could be a great screen concept, but the visualisation doesn't reach me (the user) because it just isn't able to generate code for it.

What I want is for it to focus on the best UX design and just spit out images so I can then go about with development.
